Melrose, MA – December 11, 2015 – Melrose Bank announced that its company wide “Denim Days” donations have surpassed the $25,000 milestone. Since the initiative first began in 2006, this weekly tradition of making a $3.00 donation for the privilege of wearing denim on Friday has helped to fund programs, advocacy, research and services through local and national charities.
“Our staff’s enthusiasm to continually participate in this initiative is exciting to watch. Even those who choose not to sport jeans on Fridays make contributions routinely,” said Jeff Jones, Melrose Bank President and CEO. “We look forward to serving more organizations as “Denim Days” continues.”
The money collected is donated to a different charitable organization each month based upon an employee’s suggestion. November’s donations, totaling at $384, supported The Movember Foundation, a global cause dedicated to raising funds and awareness for prominent men’s health issues. This month, the cause of choice is the Melrose Emergency Fund, which funds immediate needs of local families.
