Melrose, MA - Melrose Bank recently made a $1,057 donation towards Housing Families, Inc. The money was raised through a "Likes for Charity" fundraiser on their Facebook Page along with their "Denim Days" fundraiser.
Housing Families works to end family homelessness by providing safe, temporary shelter and quality affordable housing to homeless and at-risk families. They offer individualized supportive services to enrich children's lives, nurture the potential of each family member, and help families maintain permanent housing.
"Housing Families, Inc. does amazing wonders for individuals in our community who are less fortunate and we couldn't be happier to help out such a wonderful organization, " stated Melrose Bank President, Jeff Jones.
The "Likes for Charity" fundraiser raised $1 for every new "Like" to the Melrose Bank Facebook Page or for every "Share" of a post that pertained to Housing Families Inc. The "Denim Days" fundraiser is ongoing and since it's inception, Melrose Bank employees have raised over $19,000 through their own Denim Day donations. Employees pay three dollars each week for the privilege of wearing denim to work on Friday. Most employees contribute to the charity whether or not they wear jeans, and many employees pre-pay at the beginning of every month, generally making larger contributions. Each donation helps to fund programs, advocacy, research and services through charities in the community.
